WESTWOOD, Ky. - Live by the 3s, die by the 3s.

Ironton St. Joseph hit six 3-pointers Friday night, but the misses on the long range shot did the damage as the Flyers fell 74-49 to the Fairview Eagles Friday night.

"We kept relying on the 3s and quit penetrating and kicking like we had planned. We finally started to do it, but then it was too late," Flyers coach Kevin Hacker said.

Fairview got off to an 8-0 start, but the Flyers rallied by Jeremy Addis and Michael Basedow with 5 points each to trail just 18-17.

St. Joseph got within 24-22 to begin the second quarter, but Alex Barker and Danny Stewart combined for 9 points as Fairview took advantage of the St. Joseph offensive struggles to lead 37-24 at the break.

Jeremy Bayless scored 6 of his 9 points in the third quarter as Fairview outscored St. Joseph 26-11 to build a 63-35 cushion.

Jerrod Laber had 14 points - 12 in the second half - while Addis added 11 points to lead the Flyers (5-13).

St. Joseph was missing starter Ryan Staten who was out due to an illness. Fairview starter Cody Fannin also missed the game due to an illness.

"Laber and Clay Crum both stepped it up with Ryan out, but Fannin didn't play for them. But they didn't miss him. They shot the lights out," Hacker said.

Barker had 15 points and Cody Black 12 points to pace the Eagles (10-10).

The Flyers hosted New Boston Saturday night.
