Annual event showcases school talent
It’s an annual event aimed at showcasing young talent.
The St. Joseph High School Variety Show is Friday and Saturday at the high school gymnasium.
Faculty adviser Maria Whaley said the theme this year is “We’re Off To See The Wizard,” which has a surprise ending.
“There are a variety of songs and skits and dances that all revolve around the theme of getting to the wizard,” Whaley explained. “And then there’s a sub-theme of “Let’s Work Together.”
Approximately 60 students will take part in the show, which will also feature a drum solo by assistant pastor of the Ironton Catholic Community, Fr. Mark Purcell.
Along with Whaley, the show is supervised by faculty adviser John Lutz, art teacher Kim Johnson and sound adviser Tim Hopkins.
The show will be 8 p.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Saturday with a dinner theater at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets for the show are $5 at the door. The Saturday dinner theater is $15 or $10 for children.
