Four Scioto County men arrested last week for allegedly operating a mobile methamphetamine lab were arraigned Monday afternoon in Ironton Municipal Court.
Charles Bond, 49, of 2842 State Route 335, Portsmouth, Randy Stevens, 42, 1513 Sixth St. Portsmouth, Charles Price, 40, of 2121 Vermont Ave., Portsmouth and Danny Brown, 43, 2121 Vermont Ave., Portsmouth, were each arraigned, one after the other, on charges of illegal manufacture or production of methamphetamine, illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of meth, possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of criminal tools.
Each pleaded not guilty, including Stevens, who told Judge O. Clark Collins authorities, “didn’t have nothing on me.”
Collins appointed attorney Scott Evans to represent Stevens, who responded, “I’ve got to stay stuck in jail?”
Collins appointed Mike Davenport to represent Brown, Mike Gleichauf to represent Bond and Warren Morford to represent Price. He set bond at $125,000 for each man and ordered all four of men to return to court at 9 a.m. Thursday for preliminary hearings.
The four men were arrested Friday when they were stopped by a Hanging Rock police officer who suspected the vehicle contained materials for making meth. Materials collected from the vehicle have been sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification for testing.
All four men remain in the Lawrence County Jail.
