The Ohio Transportation Review Advisory Council has allocated $3 million in funding towards the Chesapeake Bypass project.
Gov. Ted Strickland made the announcement while speaking at the Greater Lawrence County Area Chamber of Commerce Legislative Day.
“One of the projects that has been near and dear to your community is the Chesapeake Bypass,” Strickland said.
The $3 million should result in the completion of the design work for the bypass, he said.
‘We will continue to push that project forward until its completion,” Strickland said.
Once completed, the 5.2-mile roadway at Ohio 7 will connect Chesapeake with the Proctorville portion of the bypass that open in 2006.
The roadway would form a northern outer belt around the Tri-State area. The goal is to ease local traffic — and better connect the region.
