PROCTORVILLE — The next meeting of the Lawrence County Health and Wellness Initiative will feature a presentation on the healthful benefits of tea.
Dr. David Lucas, coordinator of the Health and Wellness effort, commented, “This meeting’s focus will go far beyond just drinking tea. We have imported special teas from Asia. We will use the tea as a metaphor to discuss the overall health and wellness needs of Lawrence County, Ohio.”
Christine Hunt, affectionately known as the Tea Lady, will present the mysterious but substantiated wellness properties of tea. Christine graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree and then from Kent State university with a masters of library science degree. She recently retired last August after working for the Briggs Lawrence County Public Library for 21 years.
The program that she will present on Jan. 26 was originally developed as a tea tasting presentation for patrons of the library. Besides loving tea and reading, she loves music, playing a pennywhistle (Irish flute) in Kelley’s Bridge Band. She also enjoys singing, playing the Native American Flute and piano, and is learning to play the mountain dulcimer. Her husband, Carson J. Hunt, is a photographer and a certified lay pastor for the Presbyterian Church. Her oldest son, Alex, is a high school math teacher for the South Point Local School District, and her youngest son, Evan, lives in Columbus.
The next Health and Wellness meeting will be 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Ohio University Proctorville Center in the Commons Room.
All interested parties who wish to make a difference in the status of health and wellness in Lawrence County should attend.
