BURLINGTON - Election time is coming up. Do residents know who is who?

The Concerned Citizens of the Burlington Area is making sure the residents have the opportunity to "Meet the Candidates" Thursday.

The civic group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Sybene Senior Center to host their annual event. All residents are encouraged to attend the event.

"We've had it for several years," group president Harriette Ramsey said. "It's an annual thing."

Ramsey said they started having the event so that Burlington residents would be able to see and meet the people running for office.

The event gives residents a chance to ask the candidates questions, see what they stand for and put a face with the names at the polls, she said.

"It gives us the opportunity to see them in person and hear what they stand for," Ramsey said.

The group invites candidates that Burlington residents can vote for, such as the Fayette Township Trustees, the South Point Board of Education and the Lawrence County Board of Education.

During the meeting, candidates will have four minutes to talk to the audience.

After each candidate has spoken, members of the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions, but no debates will be allowed at the meeting. A reception with coffee and dessert will follow the meeting where everyone will have a chance to mingle.

Ramsey said all candidates that Burlington residents can vote for in the upcoming election have been invited to attend the meeting.
