Starting this month, the Ironton City Health Department will offer sports, employment and daycare physicals. The first session of physicals will be Wednesday from 4:30 until 7 p.m. at its location at 2120 S. Eighth St. in Ironton.
Physician James Meadows will be on hand for the examinations.
“The county (health department) does a lot of women’s health and family planning and we’re trying to find something that we could do,” Laura Brown, health commissioner, said. “That’s why we took up the physicals.”
Brown said attendance at Wednesday’s session will determine how often in the future the department will offer the physicals.
“The doctor wanted to see how it went to see if we’ll have it two times a month,” Brown said.
The cost for physicals is $15. The department asks that employees and athletes bring any sort of forms they may have for the physicals.
Parents bringing children for daycare physicals should have shot records.
