Proceeds will benefit IHS yearbook
Normally the new Ironton High School Auditorium is a venue for arts and entertainment, but Sunday, the emphasis will be on style.
The Ironton High School yearbook staff and Glitters a formalwear shop is having a Prom Expo 2012. The proceeds will be used to help pay the costs of printing the $55 annual yearbook.
“A lot of the money to print the yearbook comes from ad sales but with the economy being down, ads have dwindled, yearbook adviser Kristina Billing said. “We didn’t want to raise the cost of the yearbook, or have fewer pages, so decided to raise money with a fashion show.”
The fashion show will be at 3:30 p.m.; doors will open at 2:30 p.m. Hot Spot, of Ironton and All That salon, of Coal Grove, are lending their hair and cosmetics services to the ladies for the event.
Members of the Glitters teen fashion board, made up of high school students from several area school districts as well as five other area high school students will strut their stuff for the show. Additionally, 13 area vendors that supply prom essentials will showcase their products and services.
“Our store wants to be involved in the community,” Glitters owned Tracy Ferguson explained. “We hope people will come. This is for a good cause.”
Billing said 30 door prizes will be given away; the grand prize is a dress worth up to $350 from Glitters.
Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door.
