AKRON (AP) - Brett Biggs carried 28 times for 188 yards and two touchdowns, and Akron's defense dominated Ohio on Tuesday night in a 27-3 win that kept the Zips in the Mid-American Conference East Division race.

Akron (5-5, 4-3) held the Bobcats (4-6, 3-4) to 110 yards, including only 11 rushing on 27 attempts. Ohio passed for 99 yards with one interception, and each of its quarterbacks was sacked twice.

While the Bobcats' ballcarriers couldn't even manage one yard per carry, Biggs got 6.7 per rush, with touchdowns of 2 yards in the first quarter and 4 yards in the third. He also caught six passes for 29 yards.

Luke Getsy was 22-of-32 for 270 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown to Domenik Hixon that gave Akron a 17-3 lead with 8:44 left in the third quarter.

Akron's offense finished with 498 yards.

Jason Swiger added field goals of 22 and 21 yards for the Zips, who can't win the division - and earn a berth in the MAC championship game - without help from other teams.

Austen Everson went 8-of-17 for 81 yards and an interception for Ohio. Kalvin McRae ran for 30 yards on 14 carries, but his teammates lost 19 yards on 13 attempts.

Matthew Miller kicked a 34-yard field goal for the Bobcats.
