A West Virginia man who was to stand trial later this month in connection with the death of an Ironton man this summer will wait another month for the resolution of his case.

The trial of Charles Edens, 22, of Huntington, is being pushed back from Jan. 17 to Feb. 13. This came after a pretrial conference Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

The Edens trial was initially scheduled for Nov. 22, 2011 and was rescheduled for the January date.

Edens is charged with murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence and having a weapon under a disability. The last charges stems from Edens’ alleged use of a gun in the crime. Ohio law prohibits convicted felons from having a weapon. If convicted of murder, Edens faces life with the possibility of parole after 15 years. If he is convicted of using a gun to commit the murder, an additional three years will be added to that, making parole possible after 18 years.

Edens is accused of shooting and killing Auston James Wells, 19, near the corner of Eighth and Madison streets in late August.
