PROCTORVILLE - If the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers could be taken to court, they'd be guilty of theft.

Ironton had 17 steals and forced 24 turnover en route to a 59-30 win over the Fairland Lady Dragons Thursday.

&#8220We got after them really hard and got a nice lead, but then we kind of relaxed and got in some foul trouble,” said Ironton assistant coach Jeff Linn who was filling in for head coach Amy Hughes who was unable to attend.

&#8220We did a better job in the third quarter. Overall, we played pretty well. Fairland has some speed and quickness and they come to play. We had to work for everything we got.”

Ironton (2-0) was led by Mandi Boykin with 22 points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists.

Sara Hacker added 11 points and Jessica Waddle had nine points. Ciara Taylor had six steals.

Brianna Davis led Fairland (1-1) with 17 points, 10 coming in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Dragons took a 2-0 lead on a layup by Davis at the 7:03 mark, but Ironton went on a 20-0 run that extended into the second quarter. Hacker had eight points during the stretch.

Despite foul trouble in the second quarter, Ironton was able to open up a 32-13 halftime lead.

The Lady Fighting Tigers limited Fairland to just two points in the third quarter and took their biggest lead of the game at 48-13 on a foul shot by Hacker with 11 seconds left in the quarter.

&#8220We got a chance to play everyone and we got a look at some players a little earlier in the game because we were in a little foul trouble,” Linn said. &#8220I thought our bench did a pretty good job of keeping the lead.”

Next Thursday Ironton travels to Ashland, Ky. while Fairland hosts Greenup County, Ky.
