GALLIPOLIS — When Megan Auxier is on the mound, the Fairland Lady Dragons are usually on the plus side.
Auxier fired a one-hitter as Fairland ran its record to 17-1 with an 8-0 win over the Gallipolis Blue Angels Wednesday.
“Megan pitched pretty well. She was on top of her game,” Fairland coach Leroy Baise said.
Auxier struck out 14 and walked two in going the distance.
Brittany Elliott had a single in the first inning for the only Gallipolis hit.
Fairland got the only run it needed in the second inning.
Stephanie Graham walked, stole second and third, and came home on a hit by Mandy Clark who went 3-for-3.
The lead went to 3-0 in the fourth inning.
Graham and Kira Dillon singled and Clark had a two-run single.
Mackenzie Rucker walked to start the fifth inning, Beth Schlegel put down a sacrifice bunt sending Rucker to third base. Marie Stewart followed with a base hit and it was 5-0.
The Lady Dragons put the game away with four runs in the sixth.
Danielle Jordan singled, stole second base, Clark singled to put runners on the corners and Allison Hager lined a run-scoring double.
Schlegel then was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Auxier doubled to clear the bases.
