SOUTH POINT — It was only fitting that on Senior Night the seniors took the spotlight.
South Point seniors Whitney Woody, Summer Malone and Jessi Craft helped the Lady Pointers beat the River Valley Lady Raiders 3-2 Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
River Valley took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning before South Point tied the game in the second inning.
Craft singled, stole second and third base and came home on a hit by Emily Mannon.
River Valley went up 2-1 in the top of the sixth inning only to have South Point tie the game again in its half of the inning on doubles by Malone and Woody.
The Lady Raiders got the leadoff man on in the seventh, but an out later Woody caught a line drive right back at the mound and she made the catch and threw to first base to complete the double play.
South Point won the game in the bottom of the seventh.
Chelsi Plants led off with a base hit leading off. Courtesy runner Susan Christian stole second base, but the throw went into center field and Christian was able to come all the way home to score the winning run.
South Point, 14-6 and tied for second in the OVC at 7-3, hosts Symmes Valley Thursday.
