It is that time of year again. The Lawrence County Fair is in full swing in Proctorville. Since the 1860s, the event has put a twinkle in youngsters’ eyes and warmed the hearts of many a Lawrence Countian.

From the horse show last night all the way through the demolition derby next Saturday, the fair is a time of year you don’t have to drive out of the county to stay entertained from noon to night.

The rides, the 4-H shows, the live entertainment and the Fair Queen contest on Monday are just a few of the reasons to come out.

And as if you needed another reason to attend, The Ironton Tribune, in partnership with Bob Clyse Pontiac-GMC, is sponsoring a car giveaway at the fair.

This is the third time the paper has given a fairgoer the chance to win a car; and, no, there’s no catch.

Fairgoers simply need to stop by The Ironton Tribune’s booth and sign up. While at the booth, you can also cool off in the hot summer sun with a free bottle of water, compliments of the Tribune.

There are no other newspapers in the Tri-State area that will be offering so much to our readers and fairgoers this year. And it’s simply to say “Thank you,” for stopping by.

Combined, the newspaper and fair have been in the county for nearly three centuries. The added financial boost the fair gives to this area is great for the county coffers as well as the vendors who set up shop there.

So, if you haven’t already attended the fair this year or you’re just thinking about it, plan to attend. If not for the rides, food, shows and entertainment, then go for the chance to win a car and get cooled off by the Tribune.
