PEDRO — It was a game where you brought your lunch pail and went to work.
The Rock Hill Redwomen had a job to do and they did just that as they rolled past the Ohio Valley Christian Lady Defenders 53-22 on Monday.
“We got to play a lot of people and we got to work on a lot of things,” said Rock Hill coach Alvin Carpenter. “The schedule starts to get a little tougher and we need to step up our game and get ready for South Point.”
Rock Hill (3-0) hosts South Point on Thursday as Ohio Valley Conference play begins.
Tommi Butler had 12 points and 7 rebounds to lead a balanced offense. Chelsea Harper had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals while Brook Knipp had 7 points and 4 steals.
“We did some good things defensively. We need to be more consistent. We can’t have any letdowns against the better teams,” said Carpenter.
Butler scored 6 points in the first quarter as Rock Hill held OVC scoreless and it was 12-0.
Harper had all 7 of her points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 26-8 at the break.
Madison Damron scored all 6 of her points in the third quarter to match OVC’s total as Rock Hill extended the lead to 39-14.
Brooklyn Massie was 5 of 6 from the foul line in the fourth quarter as the reserves finished up.
Madison Crank had 13 points to lead Ohio Valley Christian.
