ASHLAND, Ky. — Isolation and loneliness can be major challenges for people recovering from stroke and those who care for them. It’s not uncommon for stroke survivors to feel they must go it alone … that no one will understand their challenges … that getting support is difficult or impossible.
But someone does understand. And support is available!
The UK King’s Daughters Stroke Support Group will meet 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6 in the 5th Floor Conference Room of King’s Daughters Health Park, formerly Bellefonte Centre, 1000 Ashland Dr., Russell.
The Group helps stroke survivors and caregivers navigate the difficult emotional, social, spiritual, and physical impacts of stroke in a comfortable, friendly, and supportive environment.
Stroke nurse navigator, Carlie Knipp, BSN, RN, will discuss the basics of stroke — why they happen, how to reduce risk, and the road to recovery — and answer questions. Participants can share personal stories, insights, and things they found that helped in their recovery.
All stroke survivors, caregivers and interested persons are welcome! RSVPs are requested but not required. For more information, please call 606-408-2813.
