The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings were yelling “That’s a wrap” after finishing a successful and unbeaten Southern Ohio Conference 2 schedule.

The Lady Vikings won 14-0 in the completion of an earlier game this season and then won 16-5 in the regularly scheduled game to make their record 22-1 on the season and finish 10-0 in the SOC.

“It’s a great feeling, especially for the kids. They’ve worked hard all winter and all spring. They just made things happen and took care of business,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

“We set goals at the beginning of the season to win the league, win the sectional, win the district and try to keep on going.”

The completion of the first game didn’t last long as South Gallia conceded trailing 14-0 after 3 innings.

The Lady Vikings used 4 hits, 6 walks and 2 errors to generate a 10-run second inning that put the lead at 13-0.

Marley Ferguson had a 2-run double while Addy Hawk and Brenna Tibbs each had 2-run singles in the rally.

The Lady Vikings had 9 hits as Tibbs was 2-3, Lindsey Freeman 2-2 with 2 doubles, Ferguson 2-3 with a double, Alyssa Waugh 1-1, Addi Ridenour  and Hawk each went 1-2 and Emily Jackson 1-3.

In the regularly scheduled game, Kaycee Thompson and Emily Jackson both had 2-run doubles as Symmes Valley took a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

The lead went to 9-0 in the second inning as Lindsey Freeman had a 2-run double to key a 5-run rally.

Marley Ferguson’s 2-run single combined with 4 walks and an error highlighted a 7-run third inning that put the game out of reach.

Ferguson and Hawk each went 3-4 to lead an 11-hit attack. Kaycee Thompson, Emily Jackson, and Lindsey Freeman were all 1-2 with a double, Lexi Freeman 1-3 and Neveah Holbrook 1-4.

Symmes Valley plays at Lawrence County, Ky., on Monday.
