“We have vendors that are very, very loyal to the city of Ironton although most of them live outside the city,” he said. “And they are good at what they do and they have social skills, very friendly. I think the vendors are what has made it so successful over the years.”

Heighton said that most of the regular vendors are back, as well as some new vendors.

“We are excited to see everyone back,” he said. “A couple of new vendors are produce sellers and there are three or four that are selling crafts.”

Ironton in Bloom will have its annual Mother’s Day flower sale at the Splash Park by the Ironton Farmers Market on Friday and Saturday. They will have hanging pots, mixed flower pots, mixed flats, ferns, Vinca, Cana Lilly and pink and red geraniums.

And on the second Saturday of the month, the market will allow vendors to come in and sell their wares.

“It’s called the Second Saturday Celebration,” Heighton said. “They won’t be part of the Farmers Market, but they will be in the parking lot with us. It starts on May 10.”

Market hours are 7 a.m.–3 p.m., or until the vendors sell out, every Friday and Saturday through October. It is located at Market Square on Second Street in downtown Ironton.

The market will move to another location on Aug. 22 and 23 to accommodate the Thunder on the River bike rally.

“It will probably be at Memorial Hall. There is a street called Market Street where the farmers used to bring in their goods and sell,” Heighton said.

Heighton said he is booking acts for the Tuesday Night Concert Series, which will begin on June 3 and run until the last Tuesday in August.

For the Fourth of July weekend, the Huntington Symphonic Band will be featured with the annual concert of patriotic music.
