U.S. 23 to have lane closures until 1 p.m. to repair power lines

Anyone headed to Ashland today will want to avoid using U.S. 23 in Russell as AEP crews will be doing emergency repairs on power lines from 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
There will be lane closures that will shift during the repairs.
There will be police and traffic signs to assist in the traffic control.
The road repairs are needed after a high tension power line came down on Saturday night and set the hill behind KFC on fire. A transformer at the electrical substation exploded and made the electrical system flicker from Hecla to Greenup to Ashland. Parts of Ashland were without power until Sunday morning.
