Ironton First Church of the Nazarene will be having a community job fair 10 a.m.–2 p.m. on April 30.

From 10–11 a.m., job seekers can meet with resource agencies for assistance with resumes, interview prep, and additional needs outside of employment. And then from 11a.m.–2 p.m., they can talk with interface with employers about possible job opportunities.

The job fair is part of a national movement, facilitated through the nonprofit organization “Better Together” with churches offering unique job fair experiences focusing on making the job search experience more relational and empowering.

“At Ironton First Church of the Nazarene we want to love and empower our neighbors,” said Pastor Rob Hale. “That is why we are excited for this job fair, so we can help people step into their God-given talents and embrace who they were born to be — beautiful, dignified, and unique.”

The fair will feature local businesses hiring now, community resources sharing about services, and volunteers from the church and community offering one-on-one job coaching and moral support.

Some of the employers present will be open to hiring neighbors with a prior conviction or who otherwise face barriers to employment. The industries represented will also be diverse.

Several of the confirmed employer partners include CJ Hughes Construction, STAR Community Justice Center, Lucasville State Prison, Pathways Inc., McGinnis Inc., Superior Marine Repair Painting, PeopleReady, The Ohio Department of Transportation, Quick Response Inc., The Armory Steakhouse, Brown Landscape Management, US Coast Guard, and several more.

In addition, job seekers attending will have access to resources and services to help them find work and meet needs their family may have beyond employment.
