Mary L. Wells, 99, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Concord Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg.

The South Point native was born Dec. 22, 1925, a daughter of the late Edward Legg and Lydia Mills Legg.

Mary lived all of her life in Lawrence County and was a 1943 graduate of South Point High School.

She took great pride in being a homemaker and was a wonderful, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mary was a former member of the Pine Street United Methodist Church and was attending the Resurrection Hope Methodist Church in Ironton.

She was a former member of the Lawrence Chapter #437, Order of Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond S. Wells; three children, Pamela Wells, Tom Wells and Donna Douglas; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Wells; son-in-law, John Douglas; grandson, Matthew Timothy Walters; three brothers, Fred Legg, Charles Legg, Don Legg; and three sisters, Mildred Bailey, Ethel Federswich and Ruth Clemons

Those left to cherish Mary’s memory are her son, Larry “Tank” Wells; and her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Tim Walters, both of Ironton; and daughter-in-law, Georgia Wells, of Whitestown, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, Kenny Wells, Pat Braun, Kenele Malia Ebbini, Michelle Wells, Thomas Wells, Donna Lawless, John Douglas, Tom Douglas, Kevin Wells, Kelli Fuhr, and Michael Walters; and a host of great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, with Pastor Terry Jones officiating.

There will be no public visitation time.
