Edgar Shore III

July 13, 1950–March 30, 2025

Edgar E. Shore III, 74, of Coal Grove, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025, at King’s Daughter Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

He was born July 13, 1950, to the late Edgar E. Jr. and Jessie (Griffith) Shore and also preceded in death by his wife, Arlene (Tackett) Shore, whom passed away Aug. 13, 2015 after 44 years of marriage.

Edgar attended Dawson-Bryant schools and worked for Columbus Showcase Company until his retirement in 2012, after 41 1/2 years.

He enjoyed fishing and doing carpentry work and liked working his own sawmill. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Sammons; two sisters, Lilly Faye Shore and Jackie Reed Shore; and a brother, Edward Lee Shore.

Those left to carry on his legacy are six sisters, Mary Agnes Hall, Linda Lucille Shore, Clara Jean Payne, Carol Jane Ceballos, Margaret Ann (Charles) Robinette and Vicki Elaine (Russell Carson) Griffith; also sister and brother, Debbie and John Akers; a special friend, Joann Sprague and several nieces, nephews, friends and family that will miss him greatly.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton, with Bro Dave Daniels and Bro Jim Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, 824 Lorain Street, Ironton, OH.

There will be an evening visitation Friday 5–7 p.m. and 10–11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
