Couple charged with two counts of strangulation

SOUTH WEBSTER — An argument among neighbors went from words to strangulation on Sunday, March 16, in South Webster.

According to a press release from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, just before 1 p.m., the 911 Communication Center received a call about a woman making threats towards her neighbor.

While deputies were en route to South Bennett Street, they told that an altercation had taken place and that two people were cut with a knife and two others were assaulted.

Sheriff David Thoroughman said that when deputies arrived, the called for four ambulances to transport four people to the hospital. Detectives responded to the hospital to begin their investigation.

The four people were treated and releases by the hospital but two were arrested. Russell D. Slone Jr., 45, of 68A South Bennett St. South Webster, and Tiffany Slone, 36, of 68A South Bennett St. South Webster, were both charged with second-degree felony assault, third-degree felony strangulation, fourth-degree felony strangulation, and two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence.

The couple appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday and are currently being held in the Scioto County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

Thoroughman said that it is still an ongoing investigation that will result in more charges being presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury on a later date.
