Schreck, Buchanan to receive OHSBCA annual scholarships

Two local basketball players will be receiving $1,000 scholarships from the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association.

Ironton’s Braden Schreck and Fairland’s Brody Buchanan will be presented their scholarships at the coaches annual North/South All-Star Game on Friday, April 25, at Olentangy Liberty High School.

The coaches association will present 15 different scholarships. Schreck is the recipient of the Walter Harrop Scholarship while Buchanan will receive the C.D. Hawhee Scholarship.

The awards go to seniors whose mother and/or father are active members of the OHSBCA.

Each recipient will receive their scholarship and a plaque recognizing their honor.

• Madelyn Morckel-Minerva High School-Charles “Red” Ash Scholarship

• Peyton Mounce-Urbana High School-Columbus Hines Scholarship

• Peyton Nicholson-Sandy Valley High School-Perry Reese Jr. Scholarship

• Braden Schreck-Ironton High School-Walter Harrop Scholarship
