Ceremony set for April 12
CHARLESTON, W. Va. — The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame’s 10th Induction Ceremony welcomes the Class of 2025.
The induction ceremony and performance will be held at 7 p.m. on April 12 at the Culture Center Theater, Charleston.
The event will be live-streamed by West Virginia Public Broadcasting for later statewide broadcast.
The Class of 2025 includes:
• Acclaimed “outsider” singer/songwriter/artist Daniel Johnston
• Award-winning Nashville arranger Cam Mullins
• Chart-topping country songwriter Jeff Stevens
• WV’s legendary musical family The Womack Brothers/The Valentinos
Special guests and performers include Wilco co-founder and lead singer Jeff Tweedy, Asleep At The Wheel founder Ray Benson, Jeff Stevens, Friendly Womack Jr., Charlie McCoy, Tim O’Brien, Ann Magnuson, Larry Groce, Kathy Mattea, John Ellison, Lionel Carwright, Bob Thompson, Barbara Nissman, Michael Cerveris, Greg Blake and more.
The show will be hosted by Ray Benson, who founded his legendary Western Swing band Asleep At The Wheel in Paw Paw, West Virginia in 1970, and South Charleston native Juliana Soltis, a nationally touring and recording classical cellist. Benson will also receive the WVMHoF’s Spirit Award.
There will be video congrats and welcome messages from Dolly Parton, Patti Smith, Luke Bryan, Matt Groening, Connie Smith, Peter Wolf, Jason Aldean, Brenda Lee and more.
Randall Reid-Smith, recently retired Curator for The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History, will receive the first WVMHoF’s Crescendo Award for Lifetime Achievement. 2023 WVMHoF inductee, renowned classical pianist Barbara Nissman, will present the award and perform.
Advance general admission tickets are $75 ($95 at the door). “Preferred Tickets” are $250 each and include admittance to the Friday evening reception at the Governor’s Mansion and the Saturday after-show party.
