Graham runner-up at state wrestling

COLUMBUS — C.J. Graham completed an amazing wrestling career by finishing runner-up in the 126-pound division of the Ohio High School Athletic Association state tournament on Sunday at the Schottenstein Center.

The Fairland Dragons’ senior fell to Adam Mattin of Delta in the finals with a 19-3 technical fall.
Graham was 3-1 in the tournament to give I’m a final career record of 202-27 with 142 pins. Graham is just the 27th wrestler in Ohio high school wrestling history to amass 200 career wins.
Graham beat Max Childers of Newark Catholic 11-6 in the first round, pinned Joshua Cornell of Port Clinton in the quarterfinals and beat Cooper Schlaegel of Elgin 15-8 in the semifinals.
Graham was also the state runner-up last season when he lost in the finals to Nathan Attisano of Legacy Christian.
Fairland senior Will Callicoat wrestled in the state meet in the 190 division. He lost to Cameron Carter of Trinity 5-1 in the first round and then 8-1 to Trent Johnson of Patrick Henry in the first consolation round.
Ironton junior Nate Sloan lost a pair of decisions in the 132-pound class.
Sloan fell 167 to Chase Parker of Clearview in the first round and 14-7 to Will Pask of Liberty Benton in the consolation round.
