ROME TOWNSHIP — Fairland East Elementary School cook Michelle Davis has been nominated for National Life Group’s 2024-25 LifeChanger of the Year award.

Sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation, LifeChanger of the Year recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence, and leadership.

Davis was nominated by her school’s principal, Jennifer Graham, for her outstanding impact on students, staff and the entire school community. Beyond serving meals, Davis greets each of the 350 students with a smile, offering kindness, encouragement, and a personal touch — whether it’s singing “Happy Birthday” or providing extra treats.

“Michelle is more than just a cook; she’s a source of positivity and support for our students,” Graham said. “She’s always there to lend a hug or words of encouragement when needed.”

In addition to her nurturing presence, Davis is a key contributor to school activities, from decorating for holidays to leading projects like securing picnic tables for the school. Her creativity and generosity have made a lasting impact on the school environment.

Davis’s life story, marked by resilience, empathy, and a commitment to others, drives her to help students overcome challenges and succeed.

“She’s a true hero in our school, and we’re lucky to have her,” said Graham.
