Schools and libraries across the nation will host events this week, for Read Across America, and the Briggs Lawrence County Public Library in Ironton will also take part in that celebration today.

The library will host an event, at 11 a.m., featuring a special storytime guest, crafts and more.

Read Across America is a national reading awareness program, started by the National Education Association, held each March. The birth date of children’s author Dr. Seuss falls within that week and the week has been themed around his works in many schools.

In Lawrence County, several schools will have guest readers this week to take part in that observance.
