Ironton boys win OVC bowling championship

GALLIPOLIS — Quick bowling math question: What is 6 divided by 4? Answer: The Ironton Fighting Tigers.
The Ironton Fighting Tigers won their fourth Ohio Valley Conference bowling championship in the sixth year for the tournament.
Ironton had a 2,348 team score to unseat last season’s champion Gallia Academy Blue Devils who were playing on their home turf at Skyline Lanes.
Ironton landed two players on the All_OVC first team as Mason Davidson finished second overall at 421 and Daniel “DJ” Imes was third at 382. Teammate Derek Pack was honorable mention.
Justin Owens of Gallipolis was the individual champion with a 442 total.
The Gallia Academy Blue Angels repeated as league champions with a 1,709 score with Ironton the runner-up at 1,548.
Ironton’s Kimberly Osborne was the individual champion with a 372 score and was All-OVC. Teammate Sarah Murdock was also first team all-conference with a 246 total and Leah Stephens was honorable mention.
A total of 33 boys and 30 girls participated in the sixth OVC Bowling Tournament which was held Saturday, Feb. 22.
