Wednesday morning’s snowfall closed schools and led to many event cancellations across Lawrence County, but had tapered off by afternoon.

But another round of precipitation is expected for early Thursday morning.

According to meteorologist Joe Curtis, of the National Weather Service in Charleston, West Virginia, which handles forecasts for the Tri-State area, another two inches of snow could fall, beginning around 2 a.m.

“It will be off and on,” Curtis said. “It will come in showers.”

Curtis said those showers should wrap up by midday on Thursday.

He said, after that, the region should get a break in following days.

“Friday, Saturday and Sunday are looking good,” he said, noting more precipitation is not expected until Tuesday.
