Ranita Mullens
Ranita Lou “Mamee” Mullens, a spirit bright and bold, after 62 years of a life lived fully and deeply, traded in her earthly address for a heavenly view on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025.
Ranita attended Dawson Bryant High school as a student before graduating from Ohio University Southern.
She was a woman who embodied many roles, a tapestry woven with threads of steel and silk.
Ranita wasn’t defined by labels, but rather by the indelible mark she left on the world. Daughter, military wife, mother, grandmother, friend – these were roles she inhabited, not titles that confined her.
She was a seeker of truth, a giver of comfort, a stubbornly fierce protector and a safe harbor for those who needed a place to rest their weary heads.
Ranita’s passions were as vibrant as her spirit. The roar of the Hornet football crowd on a Friday night was music to her ears, a symphony of hometown pride.
The Hazy peaks of Tennessee called to her soul, a siren song of serenity and beauty.
She found joy in the simplicity of a shared meal, a circle of loved ones, laughter echoing from the table.
Her faith in God was a compass, guiding her through life’s trials and tribulations.
But above all, it was her love for family and friends that truly defined her. It was the fire that burned brightest in her heart. These were the moments that filled her soul, the memories she cherished, the legacy she leaves behind.
Left to exalt her memory is her devoted husband of 45 years, Tim Mullens; her sons, Timothy (Heidi) and Brandon Mullens, inheritors of her unwaivering strength and spirit; her grandchildren, Jordan Mullens, Mekenzie Pennington, Murphy Mullens, and Sway Mullens, the brightest jewels of her crown; and her brothers, Walter Ray Castle Jr. (Debbie), Kevin Castle and Gary Castle, her steadfast companions on life’s journey. A multitude of nieces and nephews, “adopted add-ons,” to whom her home was always open, along with friends and loved ones, scattered across the land, mourn her passing. All of their hearts heavy with the loss of such an extraordinary soul.
Ranita now joins her parents, Walter Ray Sr. and Anita Castle, and her brother, Terry Castle, in eternal peace.
While we mourn her absence, let us also celebrate the beauty of her life, a life woven with love, grace, and unforgettable inspiration.
A service will be held on Tuesday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral home at 2 p.m. with Jeremy Simpson officiating. Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday.
