SOUTH POINT — The Beatles had a fun, snappy song called “All Together Now.”

It was the perfect theme song for the South Point Lady Pointers on Wednesday as they had fun playing together and beating the Vinton County Lady Vikings 51-24 in the Division 4 district tournament opening round.

“It was a good team victory,” said Lady Pointers’ veteran coach Dave Adams. “We played well on defense and we were able to pull away in the third quarter. Offensively, we had good balance.”

Leading the offense was Samiya Bradburn with 17 points

The Lady Pointers (12-11) will now play at Greenfield McClain at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the second round of the district tournament.

Samiya Blackburn led the Lady Pointers with 17 points with Molly Adams and Leila Hall scored 10 each.

Bradburn hit a 3-pointer and scored 6 points while Hall had 4 points in the first quarter and South. Point took a 12-9 lead.

Morgan Davis had 5 points including a 3-pointer for Vinton County (14-9).

The Lady Pointers extended their lead to 21-11 in the second quarter as they limited the Lady Vikings to only a field goal by Alyssa Perry.

Adams scored 4 points as four different players scored for South Point.

The Lady Pointers opened up the game in the third quarter by outscoring Vinton County 17-6 to lead 38-17.

Bradburn took over as she drilled a 3-pointer and scored 9 points with Adams adding 4 points.

Ana Diaz hit a 3-pointer as five different players got 2 points for South Point in the fourth quarter.

Morgan Davis led the Lady Vikings with 8 points.
