Bailey shoots RH over Lady Pointers

SOUTH POINT — The Rock Hill Redwomen got a win that was as easy as one, two, three.

There was one basketball in the hands of a player wearing No.2 and she was making a bunch of 3-pointers as the Redwomen upset the South Point Lady Pointers 47-44 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.

The player wearing No.2 was freshman Myles Bailey who drained five 3-pointers including the game-winning trifecta with 27 seconds left as she finished with a game-high 18 points.

South Point (11-11, 5-9) took an 11-9 first quarter lead as Leilia Hall scored 4 points and Samiya Bradburn 3 points.

Haylee Dancy scored 4 points and Bailey got 3 more as Rock Hill stayed close.

The game took quite a turn in the second quarter as Rock Hill outscored the Lady Pointers 12-4 and held a 21-15 halftime lead.

J’lynn Risner scored 4 points with Samantha Bamer and Bailey each hitting pivotal 3-pointers for the Redwomen.

Bradburn had both baskets for South Point.

The Lady Pointers turned things back the other way in the third quarter as they rallied to take a 31-30 lead.

Bradburn scored 5 points, Molly Adams scored 4 and Jasmyn Jones hit a clutch 3-pointer.

Bailey kept Rock Hill right on South Point’s heels as she drilled three shots from behind the arc for all 9 points in the quarter.

Haylee Dancy and Risner came up big for Rock Hill in the fourth quarter as they scored 5 points each while Abigail Payne got 4 crucial points that set up Bailey’s winning 3-pointer.

Josie Kidd scored 5 points for South Point, Adams had 4 points including a 3-pointer while Peyton Williamson and Bradburn added 2 points each.

Risner scored 11 points and Dancy added 9 for the Redwomen (7-13, 2-11).

Bradburn scored 14 points and Kidd 11 points to lead the Lady Pointers.
