COAL GROVE — At the Battle of Bunker Hill during the Revolutionary War, Colonel William Prescott uttered the famous quote, “Don’t shoot until you see the whites of their eyes.”

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ battle cry on Thursday was “Shoot White whenever you see the basket with your eyes.”

Emerson White hit three 3-pointers and scored 21 points to help Ironton beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 62-29 in an Ohio Valley Conference game .

Ironton opened up a 21-6 first quarter lead and was never threatened.

White scored 8 points, Peyton Deer hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points and Lola Hankins had 6 points for the Lady Tigers.

Hankins finished the game with 13 points.

Ironton (9-11, 6-7) extended its lead to 36-15 at the half as drilled a 3-pointer and scored 5 points while Addison Neal hit a trifecta and scored 4 points.

Emma Lively hit a pair of 3-pointers for the Lady Hornets. Lively had 12 points to lead Coal Grove (10-11, 5-9).

The Lady Fighting Tigers continued to pull away in the third quarter as White drained a 3-pointer and scored 7 points and Jolee Hankins had 5 points to make the lead 51-23.

Kendall Taylor had 3 points and Lively hit another triple for Coal Grove in the quarter,

White buried two more 3-pointers and Ariyah Freeman also knocked down a shot from behind the arc as Ironton outscored the Lady Hornets 11-6.
