Rock Hill battled the Gallipolis Blue Devils but still fell 42-32 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.

“Our girls battled and played good defense,” said Rock Hill coach Eric Bailey. “These girls have a lot of heart.

“We’re short-handed but we were able to stay close and gave ourselves a chance. We just had trouble getting enough points. Gallia has a nice team. They had a lot to do with that.”

Ryen Nunn and Kenya Peck each hit 3-pointers as Gallipolis took an 8-5 first quarter lead.

Haylee Dancy and J’lynn Risner had baskets for Rock Hill.

Chloe Bennett and Leigha Kingery hit 3-pointers as the Blue Angels extended their lead to 18-10.

Myles Bailey and Risner had 2 points each for the Redwomen.

Five different players scored for Gallipolis as the lead went to 30-19 after three quarters.

Risner scored 4 points, Bailey hit a trifecta and Abigail Payne scored a basket for Rock Hill.

Bennett knocked down two more 3-pointers and the Blue Angels were 4 of 8 at the foul line as they stopped any comeback attempt by the Redwomen.

Risner scored 6 points with Dancy and Bailey getting 3 each for Rock Hill (6-11, 1-9).

Risner had a game-high 14 points for Rock Hill with Bailey scoring 9 and Dancy adding 6.

Bennett scored 11 points for the Blue Angels.
