SCIOTOVILLE — The scoreboard read: St. Joseph 64, Sciotoville East 30. But it could have easily have read: Wesley Neal 34, Sciotoville East 30.

The St. Joseph senior scored 34 points as he led the Flyers to a Southern Ohio Conference 1 win over the East Tartans.

Neal also had 12 rebounds for a double-double as well as 4 steals. Landon “Rocky” Rowe got 11 points, 4 assists and 4 steals. Aiden Deborde and Beckham Waginger grabbed 5 rebounds each for the Flyers (8-5, 3-1).

Keagan Barker and Kaiden Huston scored 8 points each for East (3-10, 0-4).

The Flyers wasted little time taking the lead as they outscored East 15-3 in the first quarter as Neal scored 8 points and Rowe hit a 3-pointer.

St. Joseph pushed the lead to 34-19 at the half as Neal scored 12 of the Flyers 19 points.

East’s offense came to life for a quarter as Barker hit a pair of 3-pointers and Jimmy McGraw had 4 points.

Neal scored 12 more points in the third quarter as the Flyers opened up a 50-28 lead.

In the fourth quarter, Beckham Waginger had a trifecta and scored 5 points while four other players added a basket.
