Mary Jeanette (Bryant) Jenkins, 84, of Ironton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born in Ironton on Dec. 15, 1940 to her late parents, William and Gladys Bryant.

Mary was a 1958 graduate of Ironton High School and a member of First Methodist Church of Ironton.

After graduating high school, Mary received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio University.

After she retired from R.K. Hughes in New Jersey as a commercial insurance agent, she was employed as a substitute teacher at the Ironton Elementary School.

One of her greatest joys was traveling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Craig Jenkins, her sister; Nina Anderson and two brothers; Louie Bryant and William Bryant.

Those left to celebrate her life are her daughter, Julie Disney (George); and her grandchildren, Isabella (Austin) Hopper and Nathan Disney; great-grandson, Asher Hopper; and sister, Francie Flower, of Cincinnati.

Funeral service will be noon Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton.

Visitation will be from 11–noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
