Wayne National Forest closing due to expected snow storm

PEDRO — The Wayne National Forest has announced that on Friday night it will be closing its parking areas and several recreation sites at Lake Vesuvius on the Ironton Ranger District to incoming inclement weather.

“Affected recreation areas include the Lake Vesuvius Boat Ramp, the road entering Hanging Rock OHV System (Forest Road 105), Balancing Rock Trailhead, Bluegrass Trailhead, and Sand Hill Trailhead on the Lake Vesuvius Horseback Riding System,” the forest said in a press release. “We appreciate visitors’ understanding and apologize for any inconvenience. The Ironton area is expected to receive up to three inches of snow between today and Jan. 6, when trails were originally scheduled to close.”
