Marlene Chambers
June 25, 1942–Dec. 25, 2024
Marlene “Nin” Chambers, 82, went to be with the Lord on her favorite day of the year, Christmas, Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024.
Marlene was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother with a huge heart. She gave love and kindness to everyone she met, while asking little in return. Her generosity knew no limits. She had a beautiful soul and would lend a hand to anyone. Her radiant smile lit up every room she entered. She loved life, and she especially loved her family.
She was born to Herschel and Dorothy Jones of Pedro, on June 25, 1942.
She graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1960 and went on to attend Ohio University. She worked at The Ohio Department of Human Services for 40 years.
She was preceded in joining the Lord by her parents, her brother, Daniel Jones and two sisters, Mildred “Sis” Malone and Arlene Sark.
Marlene is survived by her husband, John Chambers; sisters, Marilyn Bradshaw and Patty Massie; daughters, Kelli Lester (Chris) and Melissa Anthony (Joe); grandchildren, Morgan Slone (Adam), Emily Capper (Christopher), Jordan Lester (Jessica), Haley Bland (Cody), Quinton Bare, Alivia, JoeJoe and Aylissa Anthony; and great-grandchildren, Maci, Trace and Izzy Bland, and Isley and Ace Capper.
The family is planning a Celebration of Marlene’s Life at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St. Ironton, with Lenny Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
She would love to be remembered with stories that honor all that was good and blessed in her life. She passionately supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Therefore, the family would like to ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Jude in Marlene’s name.
Marlene’s passing has been deeply felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her. Her kindness and caring nature impacted so many lives. She will be forever missed.
Until we meet again.
Finally, the family would like to thank Community Hospice of Ashland for the compassionate in-home care and counseling they provided during Marlene’s final days.
