Deborde, Neal help lead Flyers past New Boston

The St. Joseph Flyers showed they can finish strong.

Leading by just 4 points after three quarters, the Flyers outscored New Boston 20-11 in the fourth quarter and beat the Tigers 66-53 on Thursday.

Aiden Deborde scored a career-high 23 points with 10 coming in the fourth quarter to lead the late surge.

Wesley Neal had a big all-around game with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Carson Willis also had a strong game as he scored a career-high 15 points.

Landon “Rocky” Rowe finished with 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.

The Flyers withstood some long-range shooting by New Boston. The Tigers made 12 3-pointers led by Wyatt McNeil who scored 19 pints including six 3-pointers. Lamarcus Parker had 14 points as he made three 3-pointers.

St. Joseph (3-1) took a 13-12 first quarter lead as Neal and Deborde scored 4 points each.

McNeil hit three 3-points and Levigh Cooper added another trey for the Tigers total.

The Tigers tied the game at 31-all as Parker made a pair of 3-pointers plus 3-of-3 at the foul line with McNeil and Cooper also hit treys.

Willis scored 6 points and Rowe had 4 to lead the Flyers.

St. Joseph moved ahead 46-42 at the end of the third quarter as Deboard hit a 3-pointer and scored 7 points.

Baker had 5 points as he and McNeil each hit 3-pointers.

In the fourth quarter, Willis added 4 points to Deborde’s 10 points as the Flyers began to pull away.

Ian Speiss had 7 points including a 3-pointer and McNeil hit a triple and a foul shot to account for New Boston’s points in the quarter.
