PORTSMOUTH — Bombs away!

The Fairland Lady Dragons hit 11-of-30 3-point attempts including 7-of-12 by Bailey Russell as they blasted the Ashland Kittens 68-28 in The Battle in the 740 at Shawnee State University on Saturday.

Russell finished with 29 points while Kamryn Barnitz scored 16 and Addison Godby 10.

Godby also had 9 rebounds and Barnitz 5. Isa Taliaferro dished out 6 assists while Ava Layne had 5 steals with Godby and Russell swiping 4 each.

Russell hit three 3-pointers and scored 8 points and Taegan Leep also hit a 3-pointer as Fairland (5-0) jumped out to a 20-2 lead in the first quarter.

Barnitz had 9 points, Russell 5 and Godby 4 as the lead grew to 41-10 at the half. All three players had a 3-pointer.

Russell hit a pair of trifectas and had 8 points as Fairland moved to a 55-24 lead.

Aryanna Gulley scored 12 of her 14 points in the quarter for Ashland.

Barnitz and Russell each scored 5 points in the fourth quarter with Russell hitting her seventh 3-pointer.

Fairland will host Gallipolis on Tuesday.
