Shelia Sue Brown, 78, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024. She was born in Jackhorn, Kentucky on May 24, 1946, to her late parents, Talmadge Johnson and Mary Strange Johnson. She was also preceded in death on April 18, 2009, by her husband, Richard “Dick” Brown, whom she married Aug. 15, 1970.
Shelia very much enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, baking, painting crafts, being a homemaker and especially spending time with her loved ones.
She had been employed at Tipton’s Bakery, where she loved serving delicious treats to store patrons.
She was an avid fan of all types of music as it gave her so much enjoyment.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers; Robert “Red” Davis and Gary Potter.
Survivors include her children, Eric Richard Brown (Teresa), of Ironton, and Laura Lee Hopper (Harvey Vick), of Sandusky; five grandchildren, Katelyn Hopper, of Sandusky, and Michael Jenkins, Joshua Jenkins, Aaron Collins and Wyatt Brown, all of Ironton; her sisters, Edna Huckeby, of Matewan, West Virginia, Carol Mills, of Harlan, Kentucky, Jennifer Moses (Jay), of Harlan, Kentucky, Julie Richards, of Norwich; her brothers, Tony Bess, of Galveston, Texas, Bill Potter, of Thailand, Roger Davis, Berie Davis and Ricky Davis, all three of Harlan, Kentucky.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton, with Micah Taylor officiating. Visitation will be noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Woodland Cemetery.
