Knapp, Kimbler key Bobcats past Mustangs

Jon Knapp and Landon Kimbler combined for 39 points to deliver the knockout punch as the Green Bobcats beat the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs 53-45 on Monday.
Knapp had a game-high 24 points and Kimbler 15 as the Bobcats evened their record at 2-2.
Green took a scant 10-9 first quarter lead as Knapp hit a 3-pointer and scored 6 points while Kimbler added the other 4 points.
The Mustangs had 4 different players score in the first quarter.
The Bobcats went up 22-19 at the half as Knapp hit another 3-pointer and had 5 points while Kimbler also nailed a trey.
Denver Clinton hit a 3-pointer and Trevor Niehaus scored 5 points for the Mustangs.
After the break, the Bobcats came out with a strong quarter and outscored the Mustangs 17-9 to build a 39-28 lead.
Knapp scored 6 points, Brody Stapleton and Kimbler had 3-pointers and Uriah Statterfield added 4 points.
Again, the Panthers had 4 different players score in the quarter.
With the Mustangs forced to foul, Kimbler was 5-of-8 at the line while Knapp scored 7 points to stifle any comeback hopes.
Clinton hit a trey and scored 7 points while Niehaus had 4 points and Elam Faust knocked down a triple in the comeback bid.
Clinton scored 16 points to lead the Mustangs (1-2).
