CHESAPEAKE — Guess you can call Kate Ball a “three-mendous” basketball player.
The 5-foot-6 senior point guard for Chesapeake made six 3-point goals in the first quarter to tie an Ohio High School Athletic Association record for the second most 3-pointers in a single quarter.
The long-range shooting exhibition not only helped the Lady Panthers beat the Fairview Lady Eagles 75-15 on Wednesday, but it also tied her with three other players.
Corinne Thomas of New Carlisle Tecumseh holds the record with 7 triples in a single quarter.
Ball scored 18 points in the first quarter and Erin Hicks scored 6 more as Chesapeake raced to a 28-5 lead.
Abbey Isaacs made three 3-pointers and scored 13 points in the second quarter as the lead went to 50-5 at the half.
Hicks had a 3-pointer and scored 5 points while Ball added a trifecta.
Ball had another 3-pointer and scored 5 points with Ciera Nichols also hitting a 3-pointer and the lead was 66-11 after three quarters.
Ball finished with 26 points to lead Chesapeake. Isaacs scored 17 points and Hicks had 13.
Emma Pierce had 11 points for Fairview.
