It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leonard Mike Cron, aged 68, who departed this life on Dec. 6, 2024, at KDMC in Ashland, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was a treasured individual whose warm spirit and steadfast generosity profoundly impacted the lives of many.

Mike’s professional background includes positions at Rich Oil, Dow Chemical, the Herald Dispatch, Salvation Army, Wayne National Forestry and the Ironton City Mission.

He was a committed lifelong member of the Hamilton Township Fire Department. He completed his education at Rock Hill High School, graduating in 1975 and attended Vo-Tech for mechanics.

Mike is survived by his devoted companion, Sharon K. Washburn-Blevins; a stepson, Paul (Amy) Blevins; a stepdaughter, Jenny (Michael) Maines; and two daughters, Maggie (Chad) Braden, and Melissa (Kenny) Turvey.

Mike took immense joy in his role as a grandfather, leaving behind nine grandchildren, Haley Maines, Taylor (Chris) Maines-Taylor, Wyatt and Brooklyn Blevins, Judy (Jordan) Turvey and Kasey Turvey, Rylan, Van, and Ian Braden; seven great-grandchildren including Paesyn, Zephyr, Braxton, Isabelle, Colton, Gracie and Jaxson; and a nephew David Washburn.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Magnolia Sexton Cron; father, Leonard F. Cron; brother, Leonard Cron Jr.; and sister, Aline Smith.

Mike’s laughter was infectious, a symphony that resonated throughout every space he entered, creating a comforting atmosphere filled with warmth and happiness.

He had an extraordinary ability to make even the toughest days feel brighter, a quality that will be profoundly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

One of Mike’s most cherished joys was Christmas, a season that he embraced with enthusiasm and delight. He made it his mission to spread holiday cheer and fill hearts with the spirit of the season. Each ornament hung, every carol sung, every Santa hat wore and all the festive gatherings served as a reflection of his steadfast affection for the holiday season and for those privileged to celebrate alongside him.

Mike found immense pleasure in the simple joys of life. Whether he was dancing in the kitchen, singing his favorite tunes, cheering for the Cincinnati Reds or losing himself in the allure of classic Western films, he relished every moment. Those memories are filled not only with laughter but with love, the very essence of who Mike was.

Mike was characterized by his playful and lighthearted demeanor, often engaging in lively conversations and radiating vitality.

He was always willing to help others. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers, gathering by a campfire, playing in the snow, and had a passion for firearms and motorcycles.

His outlook on life was consistently positive and cheerful, and he expressed deep gratitude for his all his experiences.

Mike’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched. His affectionate spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. May we all carry his laughter, love and kindness in our hearts as we remember a truly remarkable man.

Friends may call on 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton. Funeral service will be noon Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Cremeans officiating.

Burial will be in Wilgus/Fairview Baptist Cemetery.
