NASHVILLE — Lawrence County’s most famous native and his wife celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this week.
In a post on Facebook and Instagram on Wednesday, Bobby Bare wished his wife, Jeannie, a happy milestone for the day.
The couple were married in 1964, a year after Bobby Bare, a Pedro native, released his first album.
Jeannie Bare (née Sterling) was working as a shopkeeper in Nashville when Bobby Bare met her and asked her to join his show as a singer.
She has since been featured as a backup singer on many of his albums, most notably the 1974 album “Singin’ in the Kitchen,” credited to Bobby Bare and the Family, on which she also sings lead.
Bobby Bare, who turns 90 in April 2025, is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry. His most recent original album was 2017’s “Things Change.”
