Lady Pointers open new basketball season with win over Lady Vikings

SOUTH POINT — Opening Night proved to be a crowd pleaser.
The South Point Lady Pointers opened the basketball season with a 62-30 win over the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings.
Saratina Jackson led the Lady Pointers with a game-high 18 points, Josie Kidd scored 12 points while Jasmyn Jones and Samiya Bradburn scored 10 points each.
Lydia Saunders had 12 points to place the LadyVikings (9-1).
Jackson hit 3-points as she and Kidd scored 4 points each in the first quarter and it was 13-3.
Saunders had all 3 Lady Vikings points.
Kidd knocked down a trey and both Jones and Molly Adams scored 4 points each in the second quarter and it was 27-9 at the half.
Kaitlyn Maynard hit a basket and Saunders was 4-of-6 at the line for Symmes Valley.
Jackson had 11 points and Bradburn drilled a 3-pointer and scored 8 points in the third quarter as South Point opened up a 56-21 spread after three quarters.
Saunders scored 5 points and Natalie Simpson got 4 points to pace the Lady Vikings.
Five different players had 2 points in the fourth quarter for South Point which extended the lead to 32 points.
Nevaeh Holbrook had 3 of the Lady Vikings’ 9 points in the quarter.
