COLUMBUS — Ohio State center Seth McLaughlin suffered a torn Achilles tendon in practice on
Tuesday and will miss the rest of the season.
The injury happened on a non-contact play, OSU coach Ryan Day said Wednesday night when he
confirmed McLaughlin would miss the rest of the season.
McLaughlin, who transferred to OSU from Alabama this year, quickly became one of the leaders of the
Buckeyes’ offensive line. Between Ohio State and Alabama he has 34 career starts.
Ohio State will play two of the biggest games of its season this Saturday against Indiana and next
Saturday against Michigan.
This is the second major injury on Ohio State’s offensive line this season. Left tackle Josh Simmons was
lost for the season after suffering a knee injury in the Oregon game.
After Simmons’ injury, Donovan Jackson moved to left tackle from left guard and Carson Hinzman, last
year’s starting center, became the new left guard.
Now Hinzman will return to playing center and Austin Siereveld, who started two games at left guard
earlier this season when Jackson was injured, will again play that position. Josh Fryar and Jackson will be
the tackles and Tegra Tshabola will be the right guard. Luke Montgomery will be the back-up at the guard
positions. Josh Padilla will be the back-up center.
