Man jailed after stabbing 2 with machete, hitting woman

A man’s apparent jealousy lead to two people being stabbed and a woman hit by a vehicle.
According to a report from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, they got a report about a domestic violence situation that escalated to violence around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday night at 10592 County Road 1, Chesapeake.
According to the report, the suspect, 26-year-old Dimitri Callens, of 1399 Township Road 293, Chesapeake, went to his ex-girlfriend’s house after he saw her earlier in the evening at a Huntington, West Virginia, restaurant with another person.
An argument ensued and Callens brandished a machete, at which point he stabbed 53-year-old Harold E. Maynard, of 522 Private Road 856, South Point, in the neck and hand.
He also stabbed 20-year-old Harold M. A. Maynard, of 16 Township Road 1342, South Point, in the hand.
As Callens was fleeing the scene, he struck 48-year-old Willa Maynard, of 522 Private Road 856, South Point, with his vehicle.
All three victims were transported to Huntington, West Virginia hospitals by Lawrence County EMS.
None of the injuries appear to be life threatening.
Deputies located Callens at his residence and he was arrested without incident.
Callens appeared in the Lawrence County Municipal Court of Judge Donald Capper on Friday morning. He pleaded not guilty to on three counts of first-degree felonious assault and will have a preliminary hearing on Tuesday morning. If found guilty on the charges, he could face 24-36 years in jail.
His bond was set at $2 million dollars.
This incident remains under investigation and additional charges could be added.
