Kenneth Massie

Kenneth Norman Massie, 95, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024.

He was the son of the late Albert Ottis Massie and Pearl Dean Massie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Avanelle Dickess Massie on Jan. 12, 2019; his brothers and sisters, Marie Massie, Ottis Massie, Raymond Massie, Harvey Massie, Clyde Massie and Dorothy Webb; and a special nephew, Richard Allen Dickess.

He is survived by grandnephew, Richard William Dickess; grandniece, Kim Coffman, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews; and also Cassie, a very smart African Grey Parrot.

Ken was of the Baptist faith.

He retired after 30 years with Dow Chemical in Styron Operations.

Ken served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 433.

He was a ham radio operator with the FCC call of WN8F for over 51 years and a member of the American Radio Relay League for over 41 years. He was a member of the Southern Ohio Amateur Radio Association and Amateur Radio Emergency Service for over 26 years.

Ken was a member of the Memorial Day Parade Committee for over 25 years.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St. Ironton. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
